Introduction

In lgbtDB, we distinguish between an "event" and a "series of events". Wikidata does not not make this distinction. In lgbtDB, an event takes place in a single, unbroken, span of time with a beginning and an end. An event series designates a number of events that take place one after another, with (or without) time between events. For example, the 2025 San Francisco Transgender Film Festival (Q134077) is an instance of (P1) a film festival (Q5051) that is part of series (P779) San Francisco Transgender Film Festival (Q134067), which is itself an instance of (P1) series of film festivals (Q23521).
